Merry Christmas CD/DVD Banner

I finished this project a few days ago, and I am really happy with how it turned out!

Merry Christmas CD Banner
This past summer I went through a huge cleaning kick and thinned out our DVD collection. We took a ton of DVDs to a store in the mall and sold them... however, they wouldn't take them all so I came home with a big stack of DVDs that got tossed into my craft bin. As I was looking for things to do with all these disks, I came across an idea here for a wall hanging.
I started with some Christmas scrapbook paper and cut circles that were just larger than the DVDs. (You can, of course, just trace the DVDs onto the paper and cut them out too.)

Then I used some double sided sticky tabs to attache the paper circles onto the fronts of the DVDs. Next, I printed the letters for "MERRY CHRISTMAS" onto some sticker paper and cut them out. I stuck the letters onto the circles.

Time for the glue gun! I love my glue gun... but then, who doesn't? I glued some ribbon to the back of the DVD from the hole to the edge. I also glued the ribbon together up to the edge of the DVD so that it would hang straight. Lastly, I put a blob of hot glue in the hole of the disk to attach it better to the paper.

Then I wondered how to hang all these disk letters up. They were pretty heavy on the ribbon that I found to put them on. I found some 3M hooks in my Christmas box and decided to try them out. They worked perfectly! And best of all, they are easy to take down and move when you don't get them in the right spot the first time.

I hung the letters up on the blank wall behind my Christmas Tree. From the front of the tree you can't see all the letters, but I don't mind because you know what it says and it looks nice.

From the side you can see all the letters. I think this project turned out great and really filled in the empty spot behind the tree.

Scroll Ornament

Christmas is my favourite time of year. I love to decorate and make pretty things to hang on my Christmas tree. This isn't the first Pin that I actually sat down and did, but it is the first one that I am going to write about.

The Scroll Ornament

There are many versions of the scroll ornament on Pinterest, but I got my inspiration from here. For my ornament I used white, green, and red paper. I cut the paper into 1/2" and 1/4" strips about 4" long. Then I rolled them into tight curls and let them unroll after I pushed them into the ornament.

I also  added some little plastic gems, that I got at the craft store on sale, to add some shine and noise to the ornament.

I really like these ornaments, they are different from what you usually see in a handmade ornament. I decided to make a bunch of them as gifts for my sons cousins. Before cutting the paper into strips, I printed some phrases on it including: 'Merry Christmas' '2012' 'To (enter name here)' & 'Love Owen'. I think that these will be great keepsake ornaments for many years to come.

Thanks for reading and happy pinning!

Welcome to my blog!

Hello! My name is Jen.

For a while now I have been a closet pinner. I can scroll through the boards on Pinterest for hours and pin ideas to my hearts content. There are so many ideas out there! So many things that would look great in my house, so many things that could be tweaked just a bit to fit my style... My boards became fuller with each passing day, but my house stayed the same. I didn't do a single thing that I had pinned. I didn't make any new projects or try any of the ideas that I saw.

I finally jumped in and picked one of my pins to make. I had so much fun that I did another... and another... and another! I love the things that I have made and I can't wait to make more. I thought that it would be fun to make a blog on the pins that I have made, and to share my successes and failures. So here it is, my blog. I hope you enjoy reading, and that you to can See it, Pin it, and CREATE it!
